MEET AYA MAC

For couples
whose stories exist
across cultures, continents, and in-between spaces.

I document weddings with a refined, intentional approach - so you can be fully present, and see your story reflected back with depth, clarity, and honesty.

Here’s why
I understand you

I’m multicultural and have grown up and lived across cultures and continents. I know what it means to move between worlds - to hold multiple identities, and to recognize that not everything meaningful can or should be simplified.

That perspective shapes how I document a wedding. With an awareness of nuance and context, I capture what’s visible and what’s felt - so your story remains layered, intact, and entirely your own.

WHAT I BELIEVE

+ Your story isn’t meant to fit a single narrative.

+ You deserve to feel fully yourself - without adjusting or explaining.

+ The in-between spaces hold just as much meaning as the visible ones.

+ Imagery should reflect depth and honesty - not expectation or trend.

+ Presence matters more than performance.

My approach

My work is guided by an editorial perspective - rooted in light, composition, and intentionality - while staying deeply attentive to the context behind each moment.

With experience documenting weddings across cultures and settings, I’ve learned how to move with intention in spaces that carry different meanings. This allows me to create imagery that feels both refined and deeply personal - never simplified, never reduced.

Is this the right fit?

This is for you if you value nuance - if you want your wedding documented as it unfolds, without needing to explain the significance behind each moment. If you’re drawn to imagery that feels considered, honest, and reflective of your full identity.

It may not be the right fit if you’re looking for a highly posed or heavily directed experience. My approach is unobtrusive and intuitive - focused on capturing what’s real, rather than creating it.

MORE About

I'm Aya -
a photographer drawn to honest connection, timeless beauty,
and the quiet magic
in real moments.

AYA MAC

My name, Aya - meaning “colorful” in Japanese - reflects how I see the world: vibrant, emotive, and deeply culturally nuanced.

Born in Kyoto to a Japanese mother and Australian father, and raised in Brisbane, my multicultural background and global life experience shape an open, empathetic approach to documenting weddings.

Now based in Los Angeles - and a new mother - I create timeless, colorful images that honor your story as it truly unfolds.

Every wedding is approached with intention and care. I blend in like a close friend - present without interrupting, guiding when needed,
and capturing moments as they naturally unfold.

With a global perspective and cultural sensitivity, I create authentic, colorful, and emotive images that honor both connection and tradition.

By taking on a limited number of weddings each year, I’m able to give each story the attention it deserves.

Timeless, editorial, and documentary in spirit - my work captures moments as they unfold, never staged and always felt.

From grand celebrations to subtle gestures, each image reflects the emotion, energy, and truth of your story.

If this feels aligned...

There’s a certain ease in being seen without needing to explain.
